Poverty is Everybody’s Problem
More than 12% of Mecklenburg County residents are living below the poverty line, including more than 48,000 children and one-third of all single-parent families. According to the landmark Chetty study on social mobility, many of the same children will remain in poverty for the rest of their lives, just miles from where they grew up.
We believe it doesn’t have to be this way.
Economic mobility is the biggest issue facing the Charlotte community, impacting people and industries across our city. When we remove barriers and help people build pathways out of poverty, we aren’t just helping individual families. We’re building a city where every person can thrive and success is multiplied for all of us.
Breaking the Cycle of Generational Poverty
