La ‘Donna completed her Work Readiness training at the Charlotte Area Fund in December of 2017. This class helped in providing her with the skills needed to be productive in the work environment, while at the same time looking at jobs that offered career opportunities. Ms. Lewis also attend the week long computer training. Her immediate goals, when entering the program, were to gain full-time employment, stable housing, and enroll in short-term vocational training. Being proactive, Ms. Lewis was already on the waiting list for an apartment, and was looking for work that would be compatible with her hours at school, (client wanted to attend Phlebotomy Training) With the assistance of the Charlotte Area Fund, La ‘Donna was able to enroll in the Phlebotomy Class at Divine Healthcare, which started in February. A full-time warehouse position, and a one bedroom apartment were both secured as well, during the month of February. Ms. Lewis plans to attend Phlebotomy Classes during the evening for the next several weeks, and should be ready to do her internship in April.
