Charlotte Area Fund, Inc. held its 15th Annual Community Service Block Grant Self-Sufficiency Graduation on Tuesday, June 26 at the Levine Museum of the New South.
The event acknowledged the achievements of 45 individuals, who reached CAF’s project goal of self-sufficiency. The focus of CAF’s Self- Sufficiency Project is to assist low income individuals with achieving financial independence through a combination of certified skills training, job search, and the attainment of employment. One of the most memorable moments of the graduation was the testimonial of ReSTART participant, Shonda Jones. Through the guidance, training and services she received at CAF and through participating in the residential property management training, Shonda is reaching her goals. Other acknowledgements were to the Latin American Coalition, who partnered with CAF to provide pathways to citizenship and English as a Second Language to this population. Family members, community partners, CAF Board Members and staff were present as the graduates received certificates and awards for the completion of the self-sufficiency project, High School Equivalency and ReSTART program.
